Hikes and climbs in the Canadian Rockies
Club Member Stephen Anderson will give an illustrated talk on his experiences of hiking and climbing in the Canadian Rockies.
Having spent eleven years based in the Canadian prairie city of Calgary, Stephen will talk about the privilege of having the Canadian Rockies on his doorstep to explore. Classic scrambles in the Banff/ Lake Louise area such as Mount Temple, hidden hiking gems in the Kananaskis area, rock climbing in the Bugaboos and the big walls of Yamnuska, as well as longer easier hikes in Jasper, Lake o’ Hara and Assiniboine, Nordic skiing in Canmore, as well as some wildlife tales and an overview of the geology of the area.
This will provide a taster of where to go in the Rockies, when to go, what to bring, how to deal with bears, and how to get that all important bus ride into Lake O’Hara.
This event will be held in the large capacity Sanctuary Room at the Steeple, Nethergate, Dundee DD1 4DG.
Tea and biscuits will be available prior to the start of the talk.
